How long does it take to send eth from metamask to coinbase
I presume I am doing, or god forbid have done something wrong.
I tried to send WETH from Metamask to Coinbase. I selected Receive ETH on Coinbase and copied the address. Then I chose Send on Metamask, ETH and sent all to the address from Coinbase.
On Metamask all looked ok. Activity log says that transaction was confirmed 3hrs ago. But nothing appeared on coinbase.
When i check Etherscan, the status is shown as Success, and in section Tokens Transferred it shows the correct From address and the correct To address, also the correct amount. The section Interacted With shows a contract nuber which I dont know – should this be the same as the To (coinbase) address?
Strangely to me the Value section shows zero Ether and zero $.
Should I wait a bit longer before it appears on my Coinbase, or I did something wrong?
EDIT: I now learned that most likely the issue is because I sent the wrapped ETH (WETH) and as these are no supported by Coinbase they effectively disappeared. I contacted Coinbase for help. Any suggestions from you?
To buy ETH, first you will need to set up a Coinbase account. Having launched in June 2012, Coinbase has built its reputation as one the most trusted and secure crypto exchanges in the world. To set up your Coinbase account, follow these steps below:

Go to Coinbase from a browser on your computer, or download and open the Coinbase app on Android or iOS to get started.
- Verify your email
Select Verify Email Address in the email you received from Coinbase. This email will be from [email protected]

When you sign into Coinbase, you will be asked to enter your phone number. Upon doing so, you will need to enter the seven-digit code Coinbase texted to you, into your Coinbase account.
- Enter your personal information
Enter all the required info from your government-issued photo ID (you will need to provide a picture of your ID later).
- Verify your identity

If you have invested in NFTs and made a profit, either as a creator or from flipping NFTs, then you might be curious to know how to get your crypto from Metamask back into your Coinbase account. Although it’s not difficult, there is a strict process you need to follow to ensure you get your crypto transferred safely.
Below is a step-by-step guide for how to transfer your crypto from your Metamask wallet to Coinbase, and finally into your bank account.
How to Transfer Crypto from MetaMask to Coinbase
1. Copy your wallet address from Coinbase
Before you can transfer your crypto to your Coinbase account, first you need to get your Coinbase wallet address. To do this, follow these five simple steps below:
Go to Send/Receive
- Sign in to your Coinbase account.
- Go to Send/Receive.
- Select Receive.
- Choose the asset that you are sending to Coinbase (ETH, BTC, etc.)
- Copy the address provided by Coinbase.
Select Receive, choose your crypto, and copy your address.
Copying your Coinbase wallet address is one of the most important steps. Always make sure you choose the correct asset before trying to send any crypto to your Coinbase account from Metamask.
For example, if you are trying to send ETH from Metamask to Coinbase, make sure to choose Ethereum (ETH) as the asset you are receiving in your Coinbase account, otherwise, you risk sending your crypto to the wrong Coinbase address.
2. Enter your Coinbase address into Metamask to Send
After you have verified that you have the correct Coinbase wallet address for the crypto you are sending from Metamask to Coinbase, you are going to paste your Coinbase address into Metamask. Follow the steps below:
Go to Wallet, hit Send, and paste your Coinbase address into the “To:” field.
- Sign in to your Metamask account.
- Go to the Wallet tab.
- Select Send.
- Paste your Coinbase wallet address (double-check you have the correct address and asset).
- Choose the amount you want to send.
- Hit Next and then confirm the transaction fees.
Choose the amount you want to send, then hit Next and confirm transaction fees.
Note, when choosing your gas fee, I always recommend going with the quickest option. Not only will the transaction get to your Coinbase account quicker, but it is less likely that the transaction will fail if you choose the High gas fee option. Also, it doesn’t cost too much extra.
Congratulations! Your transaction should now be pending and your crypto should be on its’ way to your Coinbase account. Depending on the gas speed you chose, your crypto can take several seconds to a few minutes to reach your Coinbase account, so be patient.
Click on the transaction, then the arrow, this will take you to Etherscan.io.
If you would like to view and verify your transaction on the blockchain, you can do so by clicking on the transaction and then tapping the arrow which will take you to the transaction on Etherscan.io. If your transaction does not appear immediately, don’t panic. Wait a few seconds and then refresh the page.
If your transaction is still pending, Etherscan will say so. If the transaction is complete, Etherscan will display Success with a checkmark next to it in the Status section.
3. Wait for Coinbase to process your transaction
Now that you have verified your transaction is successful using Etherscan, you will have to wait several minutes for Coinbase to process your transaction.
Although Etherscan has said your transaction is successful, it still takes Coinbase a while to process the transaction on their end. It can take up to 15 minutes for your crypto to appear in your Coinbase account.
Go to Assets, Your Assets, find your transfer.
You can check to see if you have received your crypto by going to the Assets tab in Coinbase, and then find the asset that you transferred from Metamask to your Coinbase account. From there, select your crypto, then go to Wallet where you are able to view all your transactions.
If you don’t see your most recent transaction or if it is still pending, check back in a few minutes.

How To Send Ethereum from Coinbase to MetaMask Wallet
Coinbase is one of the most popular cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. Designed for beginners, it offers a simple interface that guides users through the sometimes complicated world of crypto.
However, the native Coinbase wallet is not one of the most common on NFT marketplaces. As such, you are often required to send your ethereum from Coinbase to another wallet like MetaMask.
This short guide will break down, step by step, how to send your ethereum from Coinbase to MetaMask.
This guide assumes you have already begun to purchase cryptocurrencies via Coinbase and that you already have a MetaMask account. If you are missing one of these, please click here to find more Cryptonews guides.

Coinbase and Metamask
For many, their first venture into the world of cryptocurrencies is through Coinbase – a user-friendly exchange that not only allows people to purchase bitcoin (BTC) but also to learn about the currencies they are purchasing.
For some, owning the currency is not enough. They want more, and as a result, look to purchase non-fungible tokens or “NFTs”. To do this, you must move your currency off of your exchange and into a specialized wallet which simultaneously acts as your login credentials to the marketplace you are looking to purchase from, as well as your wallet.
For most, MetaMask is the go-to wallet, and for this guide, we will be showing you how to safely send your ETH from Coinbase to your MetaMask wallet.
Let’s kickstart your NFT journey!
Sending Your Ethereum
The first step to sending and receiving your ETH is to obtain the address of the receiving wallet.
On Google Chrome this is found by opening your MetaMask extension, and looking underneath the “Account 1” heading, where you will see a string of letters and numbers – this is your Ethereum wallet address.
It must be noted that this address is only for Ethereum and its tokens, and if you try to send an ETH-incompatible currency to this address you will lose the currency into the blockchain and will be unable to retrieve it.
If you hover over this address you will be prompted to “Copy to clipboard”. Click to copy the address, ready to paste it later on.
The next step is to open Coinbase and find the “Send / Receive” button in the top right-hand corner. Click this and you will be met with a pop-up in the middle of your screen.
Ensure that you complete the boxes accurately to guarantee your Ethereum goes to the correct wallet – a warning will appear if you enter an invalid Ethereum address.
- Pay with: Ethereum
- To: Paste your MetaMask wallet address that you copied earlier – e.g. 0x8a4F8F953b684c941D8D69F9062f65F41B49451d
Note: This is optional, but much like a traditional bank, you can add a note as to why this money is being sent.
Once completed, you will see the blue “Continue” button become active. Once clicked, you will be automatically redirected and prompted to review your transaction. Pay attention to this review as it will inform you of any additional fees and an estimate on the time it will take to complete the transfer.
If you have 2-step verification enabled, you will now be prompted to enter the code from your authenticator app or text message. Complete this and then press the confirm button.
Finally, you will see a screen confirming your transaction, as well as a confirmation email that specifies the amount sent, and the receiving wallet address.
Once completed, open your MetaMask extension again and you will be met with your updated Ethereum balance. Do not worry if this is not immediate – if there are a lot of transactions happening at once there may be a slight delay in the speed of transfer.
